What “waiting” really means

When you first come to Human Design, no matter your chart, type, or authority — the first thing it’s going to tell you is you need to wait.

This is a radical act when we live in a world where everyone is shouting at you, “DO IT NOW! DECIDE NOW! TAKE ACTION NOW!

The entire world is under pressure to be busy and constantly be in a hurry. This is only going to get worse as we approach the global cycle shift into the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix (February 2027), where the background frequency is conditioning everyone under the 34-20 (the channel of busyness).

Waiting, is often the very last thing we want to do. It is not sexy. It is not fun. It is an ego death to the mind, which is afraid of missing out on life, that everyone will keep on going without them.

Your worth is so often conditioned on being busy. Productive. On “achieving” and “doing.” We run around like headless chickens, frantically taking action, saying yes to everything, listening to this guru or influencer or business bro on what we should be doing. Rest? You’re lazy. Incompetent. You lack drive and ambition. You’re running out of time.

The not-self mind runs on fear. The world runs on fear. This is how the news grabs you; how social media content consumes you. We get put into a hypnotic trance, spellbound. Society does not want you to think for yourself — then you would operate outside of it, no longer a slave to collective programming.

But “waiting” is not passive ambivalence. This is where most people get confused. This is where many tend to get stuck in Human Design, waiting in a swamp of avoidance and stagnation for years on end.

“Waiting” is an active state of awareness. It is to be fully engaged with life and where you are at, today. Waiting is when we do not act on the fears and conditioning of the mind. Waiting is when we honor the truth of our inner authority, where we are in tune with the pace of our bodies.

Waiting is accepting that life doesn’t unfold in a day. That constantly planning and acting on a future which isn’t here yet, is not as satisfying when you don’t enjoy the present. Waiting is recognizing the beauty in being alive; it is being connected to your breath; in being spiritually at one with the laws of nature.

Life is always giving you variables to engage with. You receive a text. You walk into a cafe. You read a new book. You come across a new job posting. Someone asks you out at run club. You fall in love with a friend you knew for years.

The things that have moved the needle most in your life were often the thing you didn’t expect. They weren’t planned for; they were not tacked onto your manifestation list. The mind cannot even comprehend what is truly possible.

When I talk about waiting, I am not saying to “check out”. For the love of god, do not check out. Do not numb or scroll your life away waiting for the golden invitation that gives you permission to start living.

Waiting is simply waking up. You see yourself and your life with eyes wide open. You engage with what’s in front of you, with your present experience. You tend to what needs to be tended to.

Waiting is really your only protection in a world that continues to speed up. Waiting is what allows you to discern what and who is truly correct for you.

To begin the process of deconditioning, you need to learn how to wait. This is how you start to see the conditioning (and pressure) of your open centers, your transference, your not-self mind, your hanging gates.

Waiting is a radical act. Waiting will make you stand out in a sea of chronic busyness and homogenization. Waiting is an alchemical force. Waiting is what empowers you to be yourself.
